  • Polyvinyl Chloride is an enduring thermoplastic material that is known for its wide range of applications in industries. For example, construction, automotive, and healthcare. It is originally discovered in the 19th century and it faced many challenges due to its brittle nature until advancements in polymerization techniques led to a more flexible and durable version. Moreover, its commercial production started in the 1930s. It gained popularity during World War II for its use in wiring insulation. Today, PVC is the second-most-used plastic globally, earning billions of dollars annually and playing a significant role in modern civilization. Its adaptability and eco-friendly nature make it an indispensable synthetic material in various industries.
  • Polyvinyl chloride is a widely used synthetic material that is used in many applications. Moreover, it is important to understand the production process of PVC for professionals in different fields. Because, it provides valuable insights into its production and applications. The production process of PVC involves in several key steps. It begins with obtaining Vinyl Chloride Monomer (VCM) through the chlorination of ethylene and pyrolysis of ethylene dichloride. After that, the polymerization of VCM leads to the creation of PVC, which has a glass transition temperature of 70-80°C.

There are two main methods for commercial PVC production. Which are S-PVC and E-PVC processes. Both methods have their advantages and disadvantages for different applications. S-PVC is favored for flexible PVC formulations, while E-PVC is more cost-effective for specific uses.
